About Citizen Child
Citizen Child is a child and youth media-based Private Voluntary Organisation dedicated to transforming lives through the power of media, education, advocacy, and empowerment. The organisation exists to motivate, inspire, and promote the voices of children and young people, especially those from marginalized communities across Zimbabwe.
Citizen Child believes that every child deserves an opportunity to be heard, to participate meaningfully in society, and to build a better future. With a strong focus on inclusion, transparency, and child participation, we use media as a powerful tool to create awareness, inspire positive action, and empower young people to become active citizens in their communities.

Effective Child Participation at the Heart of Everything We Do
At Citizen Child, we believe that children and young people should be given meaningful opportunities to contribute to decisions that affect their lives, communities, and future. We promote effective child participation through transparent and inclusive systems that allow children and youth to actively engage in programmes and decision-making processes. Our approach to child participation includes:

Get Involved – Schools and Communities
Schools can become part of the Citizen Child youth media project by inviting the Citizen Child team to work with their media clubs and learners. Through interactive training sessions, learners are empowered with practical skills to use social media for development, education, and positive community impact.
Training topics include digital empowerment, leadership, sexual reproductive health, social media management, content creation, online safety, storytelling, photography, citizen journalism, photo journalism, videography, podcasting, and many other media-related skills. This initiative helps young people become confident digital creators, responsible online users, and active voices in their communities.
