Our Programmes

At Citizen Child, our programmes are designed to equip children and young people with the skills, confidence, platforms, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential and become active, responsible citizens in their communities. Every programme we deliver is guided by our core values of child participation, transparency, inclusivity, empowerment, and civic responsibility.

From practical media training and youth-centred media production to community documentation, philanthropic support, and effective child participation initiatives, our programmes are making a real and lasting difference in the lives of children and young people across Zimbabwe.

Media Training

Citizen Child provides practical and hands-on media training programmes for children and young people to help them develop communication, storytelling, and digital skills that empower them to express themselves confidently and responsibly. Our media training programmes cover:

Media Production

Citizen Child develops and produces child-friendly and youth-centred media content that informs, educates, and inspires communities across Zimbabwe. We use media production as a powerful vehicle to raise awareness on issues affecting children and youth, while also promoting positive role models and success stories. Citizen Child supports vulnerable children and young people through charitable activities and community support initiatives designed to improve their well-being and create opportunities for a brighter future. Citizen Child promotes effective child participation through transparent and inclusive systems that allow children and youth to actively contribute to programmes and decision-making processes. We believe that when children and young people are empowered to participate meaningfully, they become powerful agents of change in their communities and beyond. Our child participation initiatives include:

Our child participation programmes are designed to build confident, informed, and engaged young citizens who understand their rights, embrace their responsibilities, and are equipped to contribute positively to the development of their communities and nation.

Schools Programme – Get Your School Involved

Schools can become part of the Citizen Child youth media project by inviting the Citizen Child team to work with their media clubs and learners. Through interactive training sessions, learners are empowered with practical skills to use social media for development, education, and positive community impact.

Training topics include digital empowerment, leadership, sexual reproductive health, social media management, content creation, online safety, storytelling, photography, citizen journalism, photo journalism, videography, podcasting, and many other media-related skills. This initiative helps young people become confident digital creators, responsible online users, and active voices in their communities.
